U.S. Postal Service Collects Food for Food Pantries

U.S. Postal Service carriers in a past food drive at Cape May Court House Post Office sort collected food for food pantries. A similar food collection of non-perishable food is planned May 11 by the National Association of Letter Carriers to aid county food pantries.

Other offices around Cape May County did likewise. The day’s collection in Court House involved 19 carriers, who volunteered their time, 14 from Court House and five from Avalon-Stone Harbor. It was part of the 31st year of this collection, according to John Vollrath, retired postal worker.
Similar collections took place in Wildwood, Rio Grande and Cape May. In over three decades, over 1 million pounds of food was collected.
