Upper’s Cracking Down on Illegal ATV Riding

PETERSBURG – At their May 11 meeting, Upper Township Committee members discussed the “disturbing news,” per Mayor Richard Palombo, that ATV riders have illegally entered municipal parks.
“It’s very unfortunate, but we have been experiencing many violations of ATV users trespassing on township fields at Amanda’s Field, on Route 50, and Caldwell Park, on Stagecoach Road,” said Scott Morgan, business administrator and emergency management coordinator, Upper Township. “This is clearly illegal, and we have been working with the state police at the Woodbine Barracks to put a stop to it, and they have been very responsive. Troopers have been very active in identifying the violators, mainly juveniles, and speaking to them and their parents.”
“We’re going to continue to work closely with the troopers and have public works people out at the fields as much as possible to put an end to this dangerous and illegal ATV riding,” Morgan concluded.
