PETERSBURG – Upper Township Committee, at its Jan. 9 meeting, discussed growing complaints among residents about drooping and downed Verizon wires in residential neighborhoods, such as in a driveway of a home on Prescott Avenue in Strathmere.
“These are not the only wires that are down and creating a hazard,” said Mayor Jay Newman. “Numerous wires are down all along Roosevelt Boulevard, and we’ve been trying to get their (Verizon) attention to fix this safety issue, which also is unsightly.”
Municipal Engineer Paul Dietrich was recognized for his efforts with Verizon to get the wires fixed and raised for proper installation as soon as possible.
