PETERSBURG — Upper Township Committee Monday cut $450,000 from the local school district’s budget, which was defeated in the April 20 school election.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, the cut would reduce the tax-rate increase by 56 percent, from 4.5 cents to 2.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. The new tax levy is $22.1 million.
The Press report said committee suggested cuts in travel expenses, administrator salaries, health insurance and through attrition, but it is up to the district’s school board to find ways to make the funding decreases fit.
