PETERSBURG – At its regular meeting Nov. 6, Upper Township Committee heard an update on efforts by township Engineer Paul Dietrich to address traffic concerns at a busy location. At a previous meeting, committee approved a resolution for Dietrich to send a letter to the state Department of Transportation requesting designation of a “no right turn on red” area at the intersection of Routes 50 and 610. “NJDOT is working on our request which will improve traffic safety,” said Dietrich. Mayor Richard Palombo added, “I have received communications from a couple of residents who want us to make sure this designation will not mean backed up traffic all the way to Dennis because of this prolonged traffic light. We will be sure to do so by adjusting the signal as appropriate.”
