PETERSBURG – At Upper Township Committee’s Jan. 23 meeting, there was a lengthy discussion among committee members and Solicitor Dan Reeves about how to enhance the consistency of regulations for noise that ensues during construction and demolition, as well as the hours for such activities.
After debating what hours and location zones to include, as well as prohibited holidays, Reeves was directed to “clean up” the ordinances by making them resort-zone specific since, per Municipal Engineer Paul Dietrich, 90% of demolition requests in the municipality come from Strathmere, the seaside area of Upper.
Presidents’ Day will be added to the list of holidays for no demolition or construction in Strathmere since, per Committee member Curtis Corson, “That is a very busy time when many people come to the shore to lock in their rentals.”
