PETERSBURG – Upper Township Committee approved an ordinance April 23 providing for the transfer of municipally-owned land to Habitat for Humanity Cape May County for the construction of two homes for lower-income families.
During public comment, a representative of the township’s business association said that the organization fully supported the ordinance, as it not only increases Upper’s ratables and helps Upper comply with its affordable housing obligations, but it is also “the right thing to do as low-income families deserve decent housing.” Russell Graves, the volunteer president of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter, expressed appreciation for the township’s action as well.
