UPDATE: “My County Poster Contest” Awards Ceremony

COURT HOUSE – Twelve winners of the 20th Annual My County Poster Contest were honored at a special ceremony on April 4 by Cape May County’s Constitutional Officers – Surrogate W. Robert Hentges, County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti and Sheriff Gary G. Schaffer in the Cape May County Court House. Twelve winners were selected from among entries submitted by 291 fourth grade students from 7 elementary schools in Cape May County.
The winners are as follows:
1st Place: Ashleigh Wakely, Upper Township Elementary School
2nd Place: Jade Phelps, Upper Township Elementary School
3rd Place: Emma Finnegan, Upper Township Elementary School
Honorable Mention:
Victoria Pepper, Dennis Township Elementary School
John Lenoir, Upper Township Elementary School
Andrew Voegtlin, Cape Trinity School
Allie Fiore, Cape Trinity School
Rosie Peters, Margaret Mace Elementary School
Maya Critchfield, Margaret Mace Elementary School
William Velazquez, Cape Christian Academy
Zachary Latham, Ocean Academy
Alexa Lord, Crest Memorial Elementary School
All winners received a book bag filled with items and a personalized mug. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a $50.00 U.S. Savings Bond and the 1st place winner will receive a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond plus a home room pizza party lunch on Tue., May 1 hosted by the Constitutional Officers.
The annual event is hosted by the Constitutional Officers during April National County Government Month to bring awareness of the function of county government to fourth graders, who regularly study the topic as part of their curriculum. The winning posters are on display during the month of April in the West Lobby of the Cape May County Court House. The winning posters will be featured on a 2012-2013 color poster calendar distributed to the winners and 2012-2013 fourth grade class.

Schaffer will honor twelve winners of the 20th Annual “My County Poster Contest” this afternoon (Wed., Apr. 4) at 3:30 p.m. in the Cape May County Court House Jury Assembly Room.
All winners will receive a book bag filled with items including a personalized mug. The first place winner will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond plus a homeroom pizza party for lunch. Second and third place winners will receive a $50 U.S. Savings Bond.
The annual event is hosted during April National County Government Month to bring county government awareness to fourth graders, who regularly study the topic as part of their curriculum.
