COURT HOUSE – Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel announced today that the Cape May County Park and Zoo has cancelled the ribbon cutting and dedication set to take place today, May 24th at the zoo. The opening of the Bald Eagle Habitat will now take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 3rd.
Director Beyel said, “The Habitat destroyed in the February 2010 Blizzard has been rebuilt and final touches are under way, however, due to the inclement weather the decision has been made to postpone the official opening of the Habitat until next week.”
The Zoo’s popular Bald Eagle Habitat is a symbol of freedom and strength and will be dedicated to all veterans. The new exhibit is similar to the old one except it has additional space for the eagles and provides an enhanced viewing area for the public.
This Habitat as well as other exhibits at the Cape May County Zoo is being refurbished with the assistance of the Cape May County Zoo Society. Donations can be made at www.capemaycountyzoo.org.
