Troopers Respond to Belleplain for Suicide Threats

BELLEPLAIN — On Wednesday, Sept. 2 at about 7:50 p.m., State Troopers from the Woodbine barracks responded to the 100 block of Savage Bridge Road for a report of an alleged intoxicated individual threatening to commit suicide with a shotgun.
According to a release, troopers surrounded the residence and ordered the individual to drop his weapon after he walked out the back door. The individual complied and was secured along with his shotgun for safety reasons.
The man’s wife was found inside the residence unharmed. Troopers confiscated for safekeeping approximately 15 shotguns and rifles.
The man was transported by emergency personnel to Cape Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
According to state police, no criminal charges are pending. The incident is under investigation by Trooper J. Inserra.
