Township Police Promote Two, Swear in One

COURT HOUSE — Three members of Middle Township’s finest moved up the ranks during the April 18 Township Committee meeting.
Mayor Dan Lockwood administered the oaths of office to newly-minted Lt. Don Nelson, Sgt. Mike Elias and Ptlm. Brian Murphy before an audience of family, friends and a long blue line of fellow police officers.
According to Capt. John Edwards tenure of the officers being promoted ranged from Nelson, a 15-year veteran of the force to Elias, a 25-year veteran, to the former Class II, newly sworn in Murphy.
“It’s always nice to see our police department grow,” said Lockwood. “We have a very, very dedicated police department and I am always proud to be part be of seeing officers promoted.”
