Towns to Fight Crime Aug. 7

COURT HOUSE — Aug. 7 will be marked as National Night Out throughout Cape May County, a night when communities band together with neighbors and police officials to fight crime and have fun in so doing. Most towns havae special events, check with the local police department for those jurisdictions not listed below.
In Middle Township, the events will take place at the Davies Sports Complex on Goshen Road, beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until 9 p.m. Fireworks will end the evening, weather permitting. The festivities will include free sodas, hot dogs, snow cones and cotton candy. Numerous public safety agencies will display equipment and literature.
In Dennis Township, events will take place at the municipal recreation complex, 565 Dennisville Road beginning at 6 p.m. A fireworks display will conclude the event at dusk. For those with a hunger for frankfurters, there will be 800 given to the first hungry persons who attend.
In Sea Isle City, the celebration will be held at J.F.K. and the Promenade with live entertainment provided by Springfield Inn. A movie under the stars will be show after dark under the stars. There will be many items given away as well as surprises for the children. Police, fire and emergency medical services personnel will be in attendance as well as other public safety organizations with displays. Those who attend are encouraged to take beach chairs and blankets for the movie.
Lower Township Police Department will hold its National Night Out events from 7-9 p.m. at Lower Cape May Regional High School, 687 Route 9, Erma. There will be public safety displays, games, pony rides, complimentary refreshments, entertainment and other family fun.
Cape May Police Department will host its National Night Out on the grounds of the Cape May City Elementary School, on Lafayette Street. All sorts of public safety displays will be featured, and lots of fun things for youngsters to do.
