TI Bridge Job Nears End

By Vince Conti

AVALON – Avalon Business Administrator Scott Wahl provided information on county bridge projects at the Avalon Borough Council meeting July 10.
Wahl said signs were positive the work on the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge would be completed on or before July 31. The bridge work had originally been expected to be completed before the start of the summer, but delays pushed reopening past Memorial Day Weekend.
Wahl said emergency repairs on the 21st and 25th street bridges would allow necessary work on both spans to wait until the close of the season.
Repairs to the Ingram’s Thorofare Bridge on Avalon Boulevard should start in October or November, and run through Memorial Day 2020.
During the off-season work, there would be one lane open. If necessary, repairs would begin after Labor Day 2020, with completion of all work before the start of summer 2021.
