STONE HARBOR – Three members of five members of Borough Council took the oath of office at Stone Harbor’s reorganization meeting Jan. 2. Raymond Parzych was sworn after winning his first election in November. He served in 2016 as an appointed replacement for Judith Davies-Dunhour who vacated the seat after winning the mayoral election in 2015. Also elected to new terms were Joselyn Rich and Karen Lane. Lane was again chosen as council president for a third one-year term.
The borough announced that it had received the silver-level designation from Sustainable New Jersey. This is the highest designation a municipality can achieve. Stone Harbor joins Ocean City and Cape May as silver-level municipalities in the county. Only 49 communities in the state have achieved similar status.
Under the Sustainable NJ program, municipalities establish a mandatory Green Team and gain points through completing specific actions dealing with climate adaption, flood risk management, energy efficiency, water conservation and similar sustainability concerns.
