WASHINGTON – Three Cape May County housing authorities will receive a total $647,772 as part of $84.5-million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to aid housing agencies repair and modernize affordable homes statewide.
In an April 11 release from Sens. Booker and Menendez, (both D-NJ) the amounts were listed:
* Ocean City Housing Authority, $189,416
* Cape May Housing Authority, $160,652
* Wildwood Housing Authority, $297,704
“This important funding will help ensure New Jersey families have a safe and stable place to call home and raise their children,” stated Sen. Robert Menendez, ranking member of the Senate Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development.
“This money will allow our housing agencies to make much-needed repairs and upgrades to help thousands of families across the state access safe, quality, reliable and affordable housing that all Americans deserve.”
“Public housing funding changes lives,” stated Sen. Cory Booker, who lived in a public housing project in Newark between 1998 and 2006.
“New Jerseyans deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing they have a roof over their head that is safe and affordable. This federal investment will have long-lasting reverberations in these community for years to come.”
