Tax-rate Hike Looms in Stone Harbor

STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor introduced its 2019 municipal budget March 5.
The proposed budget is $16.9 million and will require a hike in the local purpose tax levy of one-half cent. It would move the local property tax rate from $0.246 to $0.251 if approved. The revenue expected from the local purpose tax is $12.1 million, an increase of $280,000 over 2018.
The budget anticipates $4.7 million in other revenues, including $3 million in miscellaneous revenues and $1.7 million in surplus funds.
The Water and Sewer Utility budget proposed for 2019 is $4.4 million.
