Swimmer Dies in Sea Isle City

SEA ISLE CITY — On Sept. 22, at 10:21, the Sea Isle City Police Department responded to a 911 call for a swimmer in distress.
Upon arrival the victim, Robert Weychert, 76, was being pulled out of the ocean and was unresponsive.
CPR was started and AED unit was hooked up by ambulance personnel. Weychert was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary Autopsy reports show the cause of death pending further studies.
An earlier story gave an incorrect age. The victim’s age was confirmed as 76 by police.
