STONE HARBOR – Dr. Lenore Tedesco asked Stone Harbor Borough Council for support for a grant proposal to establish an ongoing research project to study and compare potential beneficial use programs using dredge soils.
The project would look at uses that help improve the resiliency of the coastal marshes, creating a living laboratory that could report on the trade offs involved in various efforts at wildlife habitat creation or the use of thin layer replacement to build back eroded marshes.
Tedesco said Nov. 20 the effort would involve Avalon and Middle Township as well as Stone Harbor, the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers.
