Superior Court Judge Daryl F. Todd, Sr. Retires from the Bench

COURT HOUSE – Superior Court Judge Daryl F. Todd, Sr. of Linwood had his last day on the bench Fri., March 30, 2012.
He has served as a Civil Judge of the Superior of New Jersey sitting in Atlantic City and Cape May Court House. Judge Todd has served since December 2000. He served in the Court House in Atlantic City until April 2008 when he was asked to fill a vacancy in Cape May Court House where he has served for the past four years.
Judge Todd handled the full range of civil matters including claims of unlimited jurisdiction before a jury and landlord Tenant and small claims without a jury. When asked about his judicial career, Todd said: “ I especially have enjoyed my work with so many juries over these past 12 years. Our citizens who serve as jurors take their duty very seriously.” Todd also commented about the quality of hardworking trial lawyers that have appeared before him: “Trial lawyers for the plaintiffs who bring the cases and those who defend those that are sued are exceptionally hard-working and talented lawyers.”
Todd is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in economics and a graduate of Duke University Law School. He practiced in Linwood before taking the bench.
During his last week he has been honored by the Cape May County Bar Association and feted at a luncheon and a breakfast by his co-workers in the judicial system. “I have been blessed to be surrounded by a talented group of coworkers in both Atlantic and Cape May Counties. I will miss them. “
When asked about important cases he handled, Todd said, “Every case is very important to the parties and I have tried to handle each as if it were the most important.” Todd would not single out any one particular case of the thousands he has personally handled but said, “You can be sure I have some tales to tell.”
Judge Todd will now turn his attention to mediation and arbitration of civil litigation. He intends to do some historical research and writing and continue to speak on issues of American history.
Judge Todd is relishing the time he plans to spend with his wife Mary, four children and their families and playing some basketball with his 12 grandchildren. He would like to thank old friends and new for their kindness and support during his tenure.
