WILDWOOD CREST – Sunrise Park, a three-block-long beachfront park, will not be renovated in time for summer, Wildwood Crest Borough officials said.
The project, which uses county Open Space funding, was to be completed by the end of June, but delays would have pushed the completion date back to August, so the borough pulled the plug and will begin work after Labor Day, according to Mayor Don Cabrera.
“The last thing I want to do is create a construction project in the middle of a beachfront park,” Cabrera said.
The planned upgrades include playground equipment, gym equipment, and an interactive water feature. As it stands now, Sunrise Park has a large grassy field, with a playground and gazebo.
