PETERSBURG – A major topic of discussion on the Upper Township Committee agenda Oct. 26 was the condition and future plans for the playground in Strathmere. Karen Mitchell representing Strathmere Improvement Association (SIA) addressed committee and pointed out that the playground is in sub-par condition and highlighted several issues of concerns.
Providing photos to committee she pointed out a number of items regarding safety. Mitchell informed committee that the playground is well utilized and that the preliminary results of an SIA survey of residents indicates thus far that 96 percent are in favor of retaining and improving the playground.
Mayor Richard Palombo assured Mitchell that the safety issues would be addressed by next week. He added that committee will look at allocating money in the next budget for improving the overall condition of the playground.
Strathmere Boat Ramp
Committee also authorized submission of applications for permits with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers for improvements to the Strathmere Bayview Drive Boat Ramp project.
