STRATHMERE – At the Oct. 23 meeting of Upper Township Committee in Petersburg, the governing body received an update on upgrades to a park located at Webster Avenue in Strathmere which runs east to west from the beach to the bay intersecting the town’s main thoroughfare, Commonwealth Avenue.
Township Engineer Paul Dietrich explained, “Work will begin after the bulkhead is replaced, in about two weeks. We will be replacing the play structure, raising the entire area, installing safety fencing to allow public access to the waterfront, installing benches, a picnic table and bicycle rack.
“We will also add landscape areas along the edges. We are really pleased that we can offer these upgrades and improvements to Strathmere residents and visitors.”
Dietrich clarified that the project would cost about $50,000 which was anticipated in the municipal budget and the contractor is ready to go, awaiting the green light to begin work.
