STONE HARBOR – Tax Collector Deborah Candelore told Stone Harbor Borough Council March 3 that the tax collection percentage of the borough stood at 99.4%. That was an increase over the estimated 98.29% declared by the borough in its 2019 budget.
Comparing the estimates for percentage of tax collection by county municipalities to estimated 2019 reserves for uncollected taxes shows the highest collection rates in Wildwood (99.44%), Middle Township (99.3%) and Ocean City (99%).
Three municipalities brought up the rear below 96% collection percentage: Cape May (95.8%), and the boroughs of Woodbine and West Cape May, (both 95.5%).
The other municipalities in order of rate from the 2019 budgets were: North Wildwood (98.4%), Stone Harbor (98.29%), Cape May Point (97.8%), Sea Isle City (97.5%), Lower Township (97.15%), Upper Township (97.1%), Wildwood Crest (97%), Dennis Township (96.5%), West Wildwood (96.29%) and Avalon (96.26%).
For the 2020 budget estimates, Middle Township CFO Susan Quinones announced a 99.44% collection rate.
