STONE HARBOR – The Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, a health initiative of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, is a program Stone Harbor began participating in four years ago.
This year, for the second time, the borough was awarded the institute’s top honor, the Healthy Town designation. The award was based on the community’s efforts in 2018.
Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour said the borough was “thrilled” to receive the award. “I applaud everyone who took that first step in 2018 toward wellness and encourage them to embrace a healthy lifestyle in the future,” she added.
One of the elements that helped position Stone Harbor for the award in 2018 was the involvement of the elementary school. A school yoga program was incorporated into the wellness campaign and, according to Davies-Dunhour, it was a hit with the children.
Adrian Diogo, the Institute’s Mayor’s Wellness Campaign director, presented the award.
