STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor Borough Council approved a $500,000 purchase of radios for the police and fire departments Sept. 3 in preparation for the move to central dispatch.
The shared services agreement with the county was also approved.
Stone Harbor became the most recent municipality to make the move to countywide dispatch services. So far, police departments in Lower Township and Wildwood Crest, along with emergency medical services in Lower Township, Avalon and Stone Harbor have moved under the county communications center, located at the Lower Township Public Safety Building.
County Office of Emergency Management Director Martin Pagliughi said that it takes four to six months to bring a municipality online.
