PETERSBURG – Mayor Jay Newman informed Upper Township Committee and the public that “rumble strips have been removed along Stagecoach Road,” at Church Road and Jill Avenue, in Marmora.
As previously reported in the Herald, the county had placed rumble strips along Stagecoach Road, also known as County Road 667, with no prior announcement, no request from residents or municipal administration for installation of the strips, and no apparent safety improvement because of their installation.
Newman said the news was a result of “unrelenting phone calls” by members of the public and Upper officials.
He noted that all were pleased that the issue was resolved, adding, “These roads now are free and clear of strips.”
