Some County Voters Will Cast Ballot, Get a Flu Shot

By Al Campbell

COURT HOUSE — Voters in Wildwood, Whitesboro and Woodbine will have the opportunity to get a shot at the polls Nov. 4…flu shot, that is.
The county Department of Health will host free “Vote and Vax Flu Clinics” on Election Day from 1 to 7 p.m. for those 16 years and older at:
• Martin Luther King Center, 207 W. Main St., Whitesboro.
• Holly Beach Firehouse, 4310 Washington Avenue (adjacent to City Hall), Wildwood.
• Woodbine Firehouse, 513 DeHirsch Avenue, Woodbine.
It is estimated that one in five Americans will get the flu, and more than 36,000 die from it. That is why the county Board of Chosen Freeholders is hosting this special group of clinics, in addition to the other free flu clinics, including:
• Drive-thru clinics at Kindle Autoplaza, Stone Harbor Boulevard, Court House on Oct. 26 and Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Clinics for children and their families on Oct. 8, 23, and 29 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Department of Health, 6 Moore Road, Crest Haven.
The Center for Disease Control recommends that all school-aged children get an annual flu vaccination and the state Department of Health and Senior Services ir requiring annual flu vaccination for children attending a licensed daycare or preschool facility.
