SEA ISLE CITY – This municipality’s City Council unanimously passed three ordinances related to the ways it can meet its obligations under COAH (Council on Affordable Housing) and Fair Share Housing regulations. Provisions include amending zoning maps to create age-restricted areas, adding an inclusionary housing overlay district, and adding a mandatory affordable housing set-aside provision. In addition there are non-residential affordable housing development fees which no longer will accrue to the state but be held in a trust account by the city. The second reading and opportunity for the public to comment will be Nov. 27. Solicitor Paul Baldini noted that all three ordinances must be approved by the Planning Board. Once final approval has been given, each affected property owner will receive individual notices of relevant changes. Council member Mary Tighe asked the administration that although the council already had approved the direction of those ordinances that it be prepared Nov. 27 to brief the public fully. Business Administrator George Savastano said he would do so.
