COURT HOUSE – Sheriff Gary Schaffer recognized several members of the Sheriff’s Office for outstanding performance during an award ceremony held that the Superior Court House.
A Unit Citation was given to the Court Security Unit and the Transportation Unit for being recognized state wide during a recent survey by the New Jersey Judiciary. An “Access and Fairness in the Courts” public survey was conducted of all counties in the State of New Jersey. When respondents were asked in the survey if they felt safe in the courthouse and court facility, Cape May County ranked number one in the state out of the 21 counties.
When asked if they were treated with courtesy and respect by uniformed court security Cape May County ranked number two in the state. “I am extremely proud of the Sheriff Officers and the job they do. They are respectful, professional, and acutely aware of security issues in the courthouse,” said Sheriff Schaffer.
Thirteen Sheriff Officers were recognized for perfect attendance for the year 2014. Two officers, Lt. Don Faulk with 11 years of perfect attendance and K-9 Officer Randy Mistic with 15 years of perfect attendance were highlighted during the ceremony.
Additionally Sheriff Officer Robert Saunders received the Exceptional Duty Medal for his outstanding work while assigned to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns, and Drug Task Force. Officer Ivan Addu was presented with the Military Service Ribbon for his active military service as a member of the New Jersey National Guard /US Army.
“I am extremely proud of all the Sheriff Officers who always reflect a high standard of professional commitment to public service and safety,” said Sheriff Schaffer.
