SEVEN-MILE ISLAND — Both Avalon and Stone Harbor have increased seasonal beach tag fees for the 2010 summer season.
Each community raised the price of a seasonal beach tag from the pre-season price of $19 to $20 and the in-season price will increase from $24 to $25, effective Jan. 1, 2010.
There was no change to daily or weekly tag prices.
Avalon Council President Charles Covington said the increase would boost beach revenue by about $30,000.
Stone Harbor Business Administrator Kenneth Hawk told the Herald the fee increase could boost beach revenue by about $70,000.
The two towns are currently promoting beach tags as holiday gifts, before costs increase.
