Seek Beacon Replacement

North Wildwood Logo

By Rachel Rogish

NORTH WILDWOOD ─ Due to a recent malfunction of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse beacon, the Coast Guard installed a light-emitting diode (LED) beam due to the structure’s function as a navigation aid. City council, as of June 6, passed a resolution requesting the installation of another rotating beacon. According to City Clerk Scott Jett, the beacon will shine 18 miles to sea and function in much the same way as before. Jett said the former beacon had not been manufactured since the 1980s.
