SEA ISLE CITY – On October 25, City Council held the first Capital Plan Workshop for 2012-16. A general overview includes: $22 million in general capital and $10 million for water and sewer work.
Significant items in the five-year plan include:
–$5.7 million for roadway improvements
–$7.8 million for utility improvements to be completed prior to roadway improvements (included in these numbers are funds to complete the recommended infiltration and Inflow rehabilitation)
–$2 million for future beach replenishment projects
–$1.6 million for the completion of the Beach-to-Bay project along JFK Boulevard, including improvements to be made in conjunction with County work
–$1.2 million for street-end bulkhead replacements
–$1.4 million for Ludlam Bay Park/Landfill
–$4.4 million for Facilities and Building Improvements
–$1.1 million for Water System Support (well replacement and an aerator/chemical detention unit)
If approved, the portions of the five-year plan that will be authorized in 2012 are:
–$1.5 million for JFK Boulevard Streetscape Project
–$500,000 for Bulkhead Replacements
–$1.6 million for Road Reconstruction
–$200,000 for Storm Drainage Improvements
–$1.4 million for Facilities and Building Improvements
–$1.6 million Utility Improvements
The complete capital plan can be found on on the city’s website, www.seaislecitynj.us (click the “Government/Administration” tabs).
It was noted during the Capital Plan Workshop that City Council has authorized $43.9 million since July 2007, when Sea Isle’s current form of government took effect. This number included $32.5 million for General Capital and $11.4 for Water and Sewer. The most significant portion of that amount went to Beach Replenishment ($13.8 million) and the Beach-to-Bay corridor project ($11.9 million). Of that $43.9 million, we anticipate the City will receive $13.5 million in grants or other funding sources.
