Sea Isle OKs Resolution Supporting Sheriff

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – At Sea Isle City Council’s Nov. 12 meeting, council passed a resolution supporting Cape May County Sheriff Robert Nolan, and his “commitment to upholding public safety in Cape May County.”
Last month, the county and sheriff filed suit against state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, in U.S. District Court in Newark, alleging that Grewal’s directive, entitled the “Immigrant Trust Directive,” that prohibits the Cape May County Correctional Facility from screening inmates for immigration violations, is unconstitutional and puts the public at risk.
The complaint also claims the directive limits state, county, and local law enforcement from cooperating and sharing information with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
