SEA ISLE CITY – After sustaining a direct/near hit of Hurricane Sandy, Sea Isle City is recovering from the devastating impact of this major storm. While we would like to allow Sea Isle City residents into town to start individual recovery efforts, the City must first repair its infrastructure, which includes police, fire, government and public works operations that will allow us to protect you, your family and your property. For that reason, Cape May County’s emergency proclamation is still in effect for Sea Isle City and the surrounding area, and homeowners are not yet permitted to enter Sea Isle City.
We realize and understand the frustrations property owners are experiencing, and we are aware of the concerns people have for their homes and possessions. Fortunately, there has been no loss of life or injury related to this storm in Sea Isle City — and our goal is to ensure that we can continue to make that statement.
As soon as the Cape May County proclamation is lifted and it is safe to access Sea Isle City, we will notify the public immediately that they are permitted to return to town. Information will follow via Sea Isle City’s Reverse 9-11 and E-Alert systems.
As was previously requested, the City asks that you do not call the Sea Isle City Police Department or City Hall for storm related information, as the City’s ability to receive and send communications was severely damaged during the landfall of Hurricane Sandy.
If you should experience any emergency, please call 911 for immediate assistance.
Your continued patience and understanding at this time is greatly appreciated.
