SEA ISLE CITY – The City of Sea Isle City owns vacant land on the bayside of the resort, located adjacent to the municipal marina and the Sea Isle Bridge, which is an ideal location for amusements or other forms of family entertainment. The city is seeking proposals from interested developers and businesses to place and operate a viable attraction on the site. The available space is approximately 400-feet long by 90-feet wide, and currently consists of a paved parking area and an unpaved section that is covered with a crushed seashell surface.
The aforementioned parcel sits on the west-end of Sea Isle’s Beach-to-Bay Corridor, which runs from the downtown beach area to the Marina District. The Beach-to Bay Corridor recently received a beautiful, multi-million dollar facelift and it is considered Sea Isle’s “Front Door.” A premier pedestrian destination, the corridor features numerous private and public facilities, including a new municipal Welcome Center (located steps away from the available parcel), two municipal parking lots and ample street parking, a Methodist church, a state-of-the-art playground, modern basketball courts, Veterans Park, a Band Shell, self-guided walking tour markers, numerous shopping and dining options, a United States Post Office, VFW Post 1963, the Sea Isle City Italian-American Club, a municipal boat ramp and Sea Isle City’s future City Hall Municipal Complex, which is slated to be completed in 2015. The parcel is also steps away from Sea Isle City’s historic “Fish Alley,” which is a Mecca for seafood lovers, boaters, water sports enthusiasts and those who enjoy strolling along a bay front boardwalk overlooking the town’s municipal docks and the intracoastal waterway.
The City’s Administration and City Council envision the development and operation of a family-oriented attraction that complements the local tourism market. Additionally, many of the resort’s visitors, residents and business owners have also expressed an interest in the development of a family-friendly facility on this available space, which would add to the overall enjoyment level of the resort.
Proposals that outline a concept or idea for a family attraction to be placed on the aforementioned site are currently being accepted by City officials. Parties interested in presenting a concept or idea are asked to please send an outline of the proposed venture to the attention of the City Business Administrator, City Hall, 4501 Park Road, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243. Emailed proposals will also be acceptable at gsavastano@seaislecitynj.us.
If the City proceeds with a public/private venture on that space, a decision will be made on the end use for the site. After that decision is made, the City will publicly advertise requests for proposals for a specific attraction, with detailed parameters of the operation. Ultimately, the City envisions entering into a license agreement with the operator of the attraction and working in unison with them to help ensure the attraction’s success.
The City of Sea Isle City makes no representation that the submission of any concept or idea will be awarded to the proposer. Upon submission to the City, all proposals will become public information. As indicated above, if the City decides to proceed with any venture, there will be a subsequent public advertisement to request proposals for a specific attraction.
