SEA ISLE CITY – On Tuesday, July 19, the Sea Isle City Purchasing Department will hold a Public Bicycle Auction to sell approximately 60 unclaimed or abandoned bikes. According to Carmela Desiderio and Vicki Pittaluga, organizers of the event, past bicycle auctions in recent years have helped the City find homes for hundreds of bikes that have been found on Sea Isle’s streets. All bicycles in the auction have been cleared by the Sea Isle City Police Department and have been unclaimed for at least one year.
Sea Isle’s 2011 Bicycle Auction will take place on the west parking lot of the Sea Isle City Public Safety Building, 233 JFK Boulevard. All buyers must register between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event in order to bid on a bike. The auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. Photo I.D. is required. Local checks or cash will be the only forms of payment accepted during the auction. For additional information, phone 263-4461, ext. 230 or 219.
