STONE HARBOR – In a Borough Hall meeting room packed with family and well-wishers, as well as police brass from many neighboring jurisdictions, Stone Harbor paid tribute to retired Police Chief Paul Reynolds at the March 21 meeting of borough council.
Next order of business was the oath of office administered to the new Chief Thomas Schutta.
Following a 30-year career, Reynolds announced his intent to retire in December. His last day of work was Dec. 31, but he scheduled his retirement for Feb. 1, 2017.
Schutta, at the time a captain, assumed the role of acting chief.
Schutta began his career with the Stone Harbor Police Department in 1995. He had served as captain since 2013.
Mayor Judith Davies-Dunhour, a 25-year veteran of the department, called Schutta “a man of great integrity.”
