CREST HAVEN — Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders held their reorganization Friday, Jan. 2 in the Technical High School. At that session the county got a new sheriff.
Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel and Vice Director Ralph Sheets Jr., took oaths from Superior Court Judge Kyran Connor, former county counsel, to return them to their seats on the five-member, all Republican board.
Gary Schaffer of Ocean City then was sworn to his first term in office, also by Connor. John Callinan, who chose not to seek reelection watched as his replacement took his oath.
Schaffer and members of the board praised Callinan, a retired Superior Court judge and retired State Police trooper, for his years of service to the people of the state and county.
