By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

TUCKAHOE— A rumor that the Route 49 bridge construction project would not be finished on time for the busy summer shore traffic was put to rest by the Department of Transportation, on Monday, March 23.
While the origin of the rumor is unknown, the rumor was known by Woodbine Fire Chief Clarence Ryan. Ryan, feared an increase in shore traffic traveling thought Woodbine could cause a spike in motor vehicle accidents.
DOT spokeswoman, Erin Phalon confirmed Monday the project was on schedule.
“NJDOT committed to open the road before Memorial Day because it is a shore route. We are on schedule to meet that goal,” said Phalon.
