Roundabout Awaits April Start

WOODBINE – For those who frequent the intersection of Woodbine-Ocean View and Dennisville-Petersburg roads in this borough, construction is expected on a roundabout the first week of April.
According to County Engineer Robert Church, a resolution approved by freeholders March 24 to increase the project’s cost by $165,009 to $1.5 million, was for construction engineering services.
The roundabout will alleviate the traffic backups that occur, especially in summer, as motorists head to and from Sea Isle City and other areas east of here.
Church noted that the project is federally funded in cooperation with the state Department of Transportation. It is part of the 2019 Highway Safety Improvement program.
Utility work, relocating wires, must be completed prior to start of the project. Once that is done, Church expects the project “will proceed in a quick progression.”
