VILLAS – Lower Township Administrator James Ridgway is bullish on the future of the municipality.
At the Dec. 4 Lower Township Council meeting, Ridgway spoke about what he sees as increased township revenue driven by factors such as a high percentage of tax collections and a decreasing rate of tax appeals.
Ridgway also cited increased development in the Diamond Beach area which has contributed to a $15-million increase in ratables. This growth has added approximately $250,000 to the township’s coffers, Ridgway stated.
Ridgway also mentioned a new housing development as proof of the township’s continuing growth.
Ridgway noted that a 20-unit single-family-home housing development on several acres of undeveloped land was underway in the area of Breakwater Plaza, off Breakwater Road and Bayshore Avenue behind a pharmacy.
He added, “I drove past there the other day, and they have begun clearing the area.”
Water and sewer services are available, and that the plan calls for a new road to serve the development.
The Construction Office had no additional information regarding the project’s timeline.
The parcel has not been subdivided nor any permits issued at this time.
