SEA ISLE CITY – During public comment at the Sept. 24 Sea Isle City Council meeting, residents pleaded for better enforcement of biking hours on the ocean-side Promenade.
One noted, “We are sending our children the wrong message when bikers can be up on the Promenade at night when biking is not allowed, and there is no police enforcement.” She added that her 1-year-old granddaughter came within inches of being hit by a biker at night.
Another said that she has seen several walkers on the Promenade hit by bikers, and asked that “professional” bikers, i.e., those who are training and/or going at high speeds, be cited. She also encouraged them not to use the Promenade.
There was no immediate reaction by council or city administration.
