COURT HOUSE – During public comment at its May 21 meeting, Middle Township Committee heard a recommendation from a retired teacher to rename Main Street in Whitesboro as Theodore Johnson Way.
Dr. Johnson was superintendent of Middle Township School District from 1977 to 1989. According to the proposer, he met the challenges of his time with grace, humor, and compassion. “Dr. Johnson knew everyone’s name from the custodians to the teachers. He greeted all with a broad smile and a firm handshake, giving his undivided attention to whomever he was speaking to,” she said.
The proposal would honor his many contributions, she added.
