Ready to Celebrate July 4?

Wildwoods
The Wildwoods Convention Center’s Oceanfront Back Deck is the place to be for your Fourth of July celebration. This Independence Day Picnic and Fireworks Extravaganza will be held from 5–9 p.m. with a front row seat to the much anticipated fireworks display at 10 p.m.
Admission will include an All-You-Can-Eat Barbeque Buffet and a live DJ for $14.95 for adults and $6.95 for children under 12.
The Borough of Wildwood Crest will host its first Fourth of July Freedom Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1 at the Gazebo by the Sea at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Children’s activities include a moon bounce and face painting. Smoothies, kettle korn, gelatos, crisp critter cookies and shaved ice are just some of the food items available. Scores of arts and crafts vendors, plus live entertainment. Call 523-0202 or 522-1669.
North Wildwood Independence Day Parade starts at 15th and Atlantic avenues at 9 a.m., proceeding north. Bike decorating contest, check in at 8:45 a.m. 522-2955.
A Pooch Parade begins at 8th street field at 9 a.m. Dogs must be on leashes. If the temperature is too high, the hot dogs will be spared the parade and be judged and prizes awarded at the field. Registration for the pooch parade will take place at Eighth and Atlantic at 8:30 a.m. Call 609-374-0562.
Cape May
The City of Cape May will stage its annual Independence Parade on Saturday, July 7 at 1 p.m. with line up at noon. The parade route is Beach Avenue from Philadelphia Avenue to Patterson Avenue with the review stand at Convention Hall.
This year’s parade is being dedicated to U.S.C.G. Training Center for their many contributions & service to Cape May.
Captain Sandra Stosz, Commanding Officer U.S.C.G. Training Center, will serve as Grand Marshall and her entourage will include the U.S. Coast Guard Band & color guard.
Floats, decorated bicycles & antique autos are encouraged to participate. The rain date is Sunday, July 8. Cape May Civic Affairs 884-9565 for information.
On the Fourth:
First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, Decatur and Hughes, will celebrate with a barbeque and bake sale, 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. BBQ catered by Boyds Texas Style. Proceeds benefit stained glass window restoration.
The Great Lawn Party, Congress Hall, 11 a.m.-dusk.
Bill Newnam Band Children’s Dancing, 7 p.m., Convention Hall
Congress Street Brass Band 6 p.m., Rotary Bandstand
All American Picnic & Fireworks Extravaganza, 9 p.m., Congress Hall,
Children’s Physick Estate Tour, ages five-10, 10:30 a.m., $10 & $5 children.
Ocean City
July 4 events include two bike parades. The South Ocean City parade begins at 10 a.m. at 40th and Asbury Ave., registration starts at 9 a.m. The Garden Civic Association Parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Longport Bridge.
A musical fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m. at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk. It will be preceded by a kite-flying contest at 5 p.m. sponsored by Air Circus & a concert by the Good Tymes Band at 7 p.m. Free.
The Ocean City Pops Orchestra will present an All American Tribute concert at the Music Pier, 7:30 p.m. featuring the Lincoln Portrait narrated by a guest surprise celebrity. The concert is sponsored by Mac and Manco in memory of Ensign John Elliott. Tickets are $15 & $10, available at the Music Pier Box Office, 609-525-9248.
The concert will conclude in time for the fireworks. For information, call 609-525-9300.
Sea Isle City
Fourth of July is celebrated with fun for kids in the morning and ends with fireworks. (Rain date for Jr. Olympics and the fireworks is July 6.)
At 9 a.m., youngsters ages three-13, lineup at Dealy Field, 60th and Central Avenue to register, Olympics begin at 10 a.m. All participants receive ribbons and winners in each group, boys and girls, receive medals.
9 p.m. fireworks.
Avalon
Warren Buckingham Memorial Swimming Races at 10 a.m. Windrift; Field Races, 2 p.m. 10th St.; Boat Parade, 12:30 p.m. Boats meet north of the Avalon Point Marina at 12:15 p.m. The Avalon fireboat will lead the parade.
Beach Concert, 12–3 p.m. 30th St Beach.
Lower Township
Lower Township Recreation Dept along with the Delaware River and Bay Authority sponsors a Festival along the beach front in North Cape May, Tuesday, July 3 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entertainment, amusements and vendors, clowns and puppets, too. Beach Drive from Townbank Road to Sandman Blvd will be closed to vehicular traffic from 4 to 11 p.m.
Stone Harbor
Independence Day Celebration, family races & events, 8 a.m., fireworks & concert 9 p.m., 80th St. Recreation Field
Middle Township
Middle Township hosts a day-long program of activities to celebrate the Fourth of July. Come to the Baker Center at the Davies Complex, beginning at 3 p.m. for midway games, face painting, clowns, food, live music, dizzy races, family tug-o-war, and more! The giant fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. Rain date July 5.
