DENNISVILLE – As the Herald has reported, residents living on Corson’s Tavern Road, Dennis Township, have raised their voices over the alleged unchecked high speed of vehicles along this newly repaired road. At the Sept. 11 Dennis Township Committee meeting, a 34-year resident, Deborah Cannizzo, added her voice and input regarding this problem.
“It’s really unbelievable the speeding that goes on right in front of my house. When I’m doing yard work or am with my grandchild, it’s hard not to think there is going to be a tragic accident with the way these drivers are speeding, even passing a stopped school bus. My suggestion is that radar equipment with photo taking is installed – everyone will be a winner since speeders will have to pay these fines, the word will get out, and the township can generate some revenue.”
Mayor Zeth Matalucci told Cannizzo that because Corson’s Tavern Road is a county road (CR 667), freeholders must implement such a recommendation. Township Clerk Jacqueline Justice offered to send Cannizzo the meeting schedule of freeholders. She said she would attend the next meeting to push for her recommendation. The next freeholder meeting will be Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the County Administration Building, 4 Moore Road, Court House.
