Folsom – Funds are available to assist low-to-moderate income households struggling to pay their natural gas and electricity bills. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities recently awarded $25 million in grant funding to the Affordable Housing Alliance for its Temporary Relief of Utility Expenses (TRUE) grant program.
The TRUE grant assistance program benefits homeowners and renters who are NJ residents; who are not enrolled in or eligible for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or Universal Service Fund benefits; who are facing a crisis situation that includes a documented notice of overdue payment for gas and/or electric service; and who have a past history of making regular payments toward their utility bills.
The funds, which would be offered as a one-time payment to qualified applicants, are available on a first come, first served basis. For more information, please contact the Affordable Housing Alliance at (732) 389-2204.
