Help us; Help you. In times of emergency, time is critical and first responders such as Police, Fire or Emergency Medical Services need to respond quickly and safely. However if they cannot find you or your house because it is not properly identified by an address number critical time could be lost. It has come to our attention that many property owners or occupants in Lower Township do not have the proper address identification plainly visible from the street or road fronting their property.
These numbers must be contrast with their background and should be a minimum size of 4 inches high and ½ inch in width. Due to the great concern of First Responders in Lower Township, we are requesting all Lower Township Residents to properly identify your property. By placing your property address number on the front of your house or structure with the proper size numbers, the First Responders of Lower Township can better serve our community. Lower Township Ordinance and the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code require all properties to be properly identified New water mains have been and continue to be installed within the Villas, Town Bank and North Cape May sections of Lower Township. These new water mains bring not only clean drinking water to our homes but they also bring water for fire protection in our community, as fire hydrants are being installed and activated as water mains are filled.
Please remember that if the Fire Companies cannot get to the fire hydrants they cannot use them, so please do not park or obstruct these fire hydrants, as they could be needed at anytime. Parking or obstructing a fire hydrant is prohibited by law.
