Woodbine – The Puerto Rican Action Committee of Southern New Jersey, Inc., has been approved to receive a grant award in the amount of $120,000 from the NJ Homelessness Prevention Program.
The award, administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, will provide funds for temporary assistance with security deposits and rent to any eligible household, Hispnaic or non-Hinspanic, throughout Cape May County.
According to David Rodriguez, Executuve Director of PRAC, “The State of New Jersey has tirelessly worked to ensure that our residents who are struggling in this economic recession have the resources and programs available to meet the challenges of basic necessities from housing to energy and food assistance.” “This program is an essential component in addressing individual hardships and will be vital in moving our economy towards stability.”
Rodriguez added that The Puerto Rican Action Committee has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to delivering a wide range of services in crucial areas such as employment, health, transportation, and case management and this grant will further support PRAC in its programs.
Throughout this economic crisis, Cape May County has witnessed a sharp increase in the number of residents in significant need of emergency assistance. This funding is a part of collective efforts to strengthen the network of services across the county so that our residents have the means to be self-sufficient.
