Postal Service Expects Avalanche of Holiday Mail

BELLMAWR — The Postal Service expected Monday, Dec. 15, to be the heaviest mailing day of the holiday season and right now that prediction looks accurate.
Local post offices in South Jersey are reporting heavy customer traffic, according to a release.
For the processing facility in Bellmawr employees anticipate canceling three times the normal amount of cards and letters. In all, the Bellmawr plant anticipates its total mail volume to nearly double that day.
Stamp Cancellations on Monday Dec. 15 should be about 2.1 million; Normal Monday cancellations are about 670,000 pieces
Total expected on Monday Dec. 15 in the Bellmawr Plant is about 8 million pieces; total volume on a normal Monday is about 4.9 million pieces
Here are some important deadlines to remember:
Parcel Post – by Tuesday, Dec. 16
First-Class – by Saturday, Dec. 20 for all destinations
Priority Mail – by Saturday, Dec. 20 for all destinations and Monday, Dec. 22 for Local destinations (Local = within 150 miles)
Express Mail – by Tuesday, Dec. 23 for all destinations but check your local Post Office for ZIP Code service standards. We will deliver Express Mail packages on Christmas Day.
