COURT HOUSE – The letter carriers, rural and city, along with many other postal employees and volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food Dec. 7, according to coordinator John Vollrath.
Those postal personnel are from the following post offices throughout Cape May County: Cape May, Court House, Villas, Rio Grande, Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City, Ocean View, Ocean City, Marmora and Woodbine. All will be collecting non-perishable food items to fill local food banks.
The food banks are low especially this time of the year.
Postal patrons are asked to leave non-perishable food by their mailbox and their mail carrier will pick it up. Donations can also be made at a local post office.
All the food collected remains in local food banks.
The following are some suggestions:
Beef-a-roni, tuna, breakfast cereals, ravioli, canned fruit, peanut butter and jelly, canned vegetables, mayonnaise, corned beef hash, mac and cheese, baby food and formula, dry pasta, beans, juices and soups, spaghetti sauce, applesauce, rice, instant potatoes, beef stew and chili.
